Many students want to study medicine or medical courses in different foreign countries, USA is one of the top countries that come to the mind of students after finishing their MBBS and they would want to get into a medical school so they can easily get their medical degree.

Earning a medical degree in the USA is not that difficult and once you know the process and follow the right steps there are so many opportunities or so many courses that you can study without USMLE. The most important thing after getting your MBBS is to attend a good medical college in the USA and if you have the opportunity and resources to do that then you are good to go.

1. Doctor of Medicine (MD) Program

This is a program that is meant to prepare students for different career options that is relating to the field of medicine. During this program you will learn the basic sciences in the first year, complete core clinical clerkships in the second year, scholarly investigation in the third year and during the fourth year you will be carrying out elective rotations. The MD program can be combined with lots of other programs which include the MD/PhD program, MD/MBA program, MD/MPH program, and MD/JD program.

i. MD/PhD Program

The MD/PhD program is a dual doctorate program for physician-scientists. This degree involves combining the training of the Doctor of Medicine Degree with the research expertise of the Doctor of Philosophy Degree.

Many students like this are supported with additional funding by internationally recognized boards like the National institute of health with additional funding opportunities which is available through other institutions and foundations.

ii. MD/MBA Program

The MD/MBA program is designed for students with an interest in management, the course is grounded in providing leadership training for physicians with lots of education for those interested in economics, finance and marketing. The core area of this program is to train outstanding leaders that are skilled in areas of medicine and management and that are ready to take roles and positions of influence which they will contribute to the health sector.

You can enter and complete the required training that is needed; you will complete a medical residency or another kind of postgraduate clinical training upon graduation from the joint degree program. You should be able to combine medicine and business at the end of this program and this program seeks to create people of influence that can help shake the medical world and business in general.

iii. MD/MPH Program

This program allows students to complete in five years; students have the option of completing their MPH degree program either at the beginning of medical school or in year two or three of medical school. This program provides a solid foundation in medicine and public health. An MPH degree focuses on health leadership, administration skills, implementing and managing public health programs, monitoring diseases and managing outbreaks. iv. MD/JD Program

The MD/JD program teaches you the skills of a lawyer. This course is open to students that are generally interested in legal aspects of medicine and medicine and allows them to study both for six years.

Completion of this degree will prepare graduates for the dual degree program for careers in health law practice and the healthcare system. This course allows students to see what is wrong in the healthcare system and various ways to fix it and also gives them the opportunity of seeing things from different angles and ways.

2. Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Program

This program is a professional degree that requires four (4) years of study. There is so much to learn while studying this program as it prepares you for so many opportunities that lie ahead. D.O. focus on preventive healthcare and they work with their patients on how to fight their illness and prevent it. They also have the opportunity of seeing their patients and performing surgery or even prescribe medications but many tend to focus on the patient healing process as they see this as a long-term goal.

This D.O. program does not need USMLE but only a degree from an accredited medical school, the admission process for D.O. is similar to the admission process for M.D. but with some added steps and requirements needed you can gain admission smoothly to study this program.

3. PGY-2 and Advanced Residencies

PGY-2 and Advanced Residencies is a program that allows you to train in a specific area of your choosing. This program requires three to five years and it depends on the course of your choice there are so many which include; emergency medicine, dermatology, family medicine, internal medicine, neurology and so much more.

Before entering into the PGY-2 and Advanced Residency program, your medical school needs to be accredited by the liaison committee on medical education and recognized by the world directory of medical Schools. Gaining admission into studying any advanced residencies course allows you to know much about the course and you can easily get a job once you are done. One of the options is to complete an advanced residency from another speciality and allows entering a fellowship program in that field.

What is the MBBS?

The word MBBS is a shot form in Latin which means “Medicinae Baccalaureus Baccalaureus Chirurgiae” and in English, it is written as Bachelor of Medicine Bachelor of Surgery. This is a program for students that are pursuing a career in medicine. This program is highly competitive as admissions are gotten on certain requirements in the school.

What is USMLE?

USMLE is known as the United States Medical Licensing Examination. This is a three-step examination for medical licensure in the US and it is sponsored by the federation of states medical board and the national board.  This examination is meant for assessing a physician’s ability to apply knowledge, concepts and principles that are important in health and diseases.

This examination has been termed to be one of the world’s most difficult examinations and it is required of you to take it if you want to receive a medical license in the USA. The examination is in three parts which cost different amounts and you are required to pass all stages before you can get a license in the USA.

To qualify for the residency this exam needs to be cleared and you will need a mark of 200+ and above to pass this examination. It is required you take part 3 of this examination after your internship and it has been difficult for lots of foreign graduates, and US medical graduates as they have a hard time passing this examination which makes it harder to match into residency programs in recent years and without this examination you cannot get a medical license.

There are so many doors that your medical license opens for you that your MD does not this is why so many times lots of students are trying hard to take this exam and make sure they pass so they can get what they want. Even if your goal is non-clinical work it is still advisable to get your medical license as there are so many opportunities that come with it.

You should follow the path that can help you reach your goals if your goal is non-clinical work then you can do it without a USMLE but if you want to do more clinical jobs then it is necessary you need it and you should know that non-clinical jobs are not very secure as some disadvantages are attached to it.
